"Mix of English and Italian Antiques"
The charm of Casa Ceri
The historic village house with its eclectic charming mix of English and Italian antiques, paintings, prints and engravings, objects and rugs, is dedicated to relaxing. Rooms to read, reflect and listen to music, outnumber rooms for sleeping. We offer accommodation to just two guests in a suite with cosy small sitting room and private shaded roof terrace furnished with teak sunloungers and table: A perfect place for early morning yoga and meditation to the gentle sounds of doves and swifts.
Guests are welcome to relax in the general areas of the house. A second ground floor sitting room with squidgy curl-up sofas, and two further outdoor terraces set amongst the olive groved hillside, all on different levels, encourage chilling out. These two other terraces are also furnished with wooden chairs and tables. Comfort zones from which to sip a glass of chilled wine and dine outdoors, enjoying the stunning views onto the thickly wooded mountain soaring to bare peaks where the rising and setting sun creates kaleidoscopes of colour.
Originally 3 period village houses from 1200, a previous owner famous in the art world, saw to converting them with sensitivity, leaving original features intact, into one, providing an intriguingly quirky mix of intimate spaces and larger rooms. Internal narrow stairways and wooden beams are characteristic of the original structure.
The situation of the house ensures complete privacy from the windows which all face the olive grove hillside looking directly out onto the thickly forested mountain side and rocky peaks. Occasionally with binoculars, it is possible to follow the progress of mountaineers scaling the rock face which is one of the most famous in Europe amongst those who do this sort of thing. With just a turn of the head the Tiranean sea is visible at 15 km distance.
Casoli village is traffic free so wonderfully silent. Cars park for free, in the main square and along the roadside. Approach to our house like all the houses in the village, is by foot only. From the main parking square, an easy 50 metres of good tarmac footpath leads down to the house.
The front door is down a flight of 6 stone steps.
The house is in the last ring of houses along the ancient village wall. The footpath passes, on one side, infront of other village houses. Once inside the front door, privacy and stunning views reign onto the completely uninterruped forested mountain side.
